Did not respond to T4PE survey. Did not respond to ATPE survey. From website: "I stand with teachers. I and the Law Office of Ernesto Gamez, Jr., P.C. have personally represented hundreds of teachers in all areas of civil and family law, including local grievances. You trust me to fight for you here locally and I will fight for teachers in Austin. I come from a family of educators. My grandparents, Jim and Patricia Titus, were teachers at both Harlingen High School and Texas State Technical College. My grandfather, Jim Titus, taught the electricians apprenticeship for the Independent Electrical Contractor?s Association. My grandfather, Ernesto Gamez, Sr., taught the welding apprenticeship at the Texas Southmost College in Brownsville, Texas; he was one of the first Mexican-American welders certified in the Pipefitter and Welder?s Union. My mother, Valerie Gamez, was an academic advisor for the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math at the UTB-TSC campus in Brownsville, Texas. I know my vote for teachers is a vote for family. I will defend against any attack to hurt teacher?s rights to unionize. I will defend against any attempt to jeopardize your hard-earned retirement and your healthcare. I will fight for your much deserved cost of living increase across the board for teachers." From FB, 1/25: "Our platform is based on education and providing resources to teachers and school administrators. They need our help now more than ever."
